Breda Man Sustains Head Injury In Single-Vehicle Accident Tuesday

A Breda man sustained head injuries in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday evening. At approximately 5:34 p.m., the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 110th Street, between Hawthorne and Granite Avenues north of Breda. They arrived to find that 55-year-old Kevin William Koster had been traveling westbound on 110th Street and claimed the setting sun had prevented him from having a clear view of the roadway. His 2003 Ford F150 veered to the left, toward the south side ditch, when the front panel clipped a wooden fence around an under-road culvert. While the vehicle was veering into the ditch, it struck a field entrance, going over it and landing on the opposite side. Koster was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of a non-incapacitating head injury sustained when his vehicle hit the embankment. There was an estimated $4,000 in damage to the truck and $100 in damage to the wooden fence. Koster has been cited for failure to maintain control and failure to use a seatbelt.
