Ten Carroll Community School District (CCSD) employee applications for early retirement, including one from the district’s chief administrator, were approved last night (Monday) by the Board of Education. The list of staff includes teachers, secretaries and management. Superintendent, Rob Cordes, says nearly three centuries of working experience will be leaving when these employees are finished.
Cordes is also one of the ten accepted for retirement at the end of the year. Board President, Jen Munson, offered congratulations to Cordes during the meeting for his years of service to the district and the community.
She adds the Carroll School District would not be in the great condition it is now without Cordes’ leadership.
Only staff members over 55 years old with 15 continuous years of service to the district were eligible to apply. They were offered 50 percent of their current year salary up to $20,000 to take early retirement. This allows for the district to fill the now open positions with less costly and generally younger employees. The early retirement option was presented to personnel for the first time since Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 as a way to reduce costs in a time when allowable growth in funding from the state for schools is anticipated at zero percent. A list of all the employees retiring at the end of this year’s contract and their time with the district can be found included below this story.
