Several Audubon Wheeler teams have been recognized for tremendous success off of the playing field. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) named the Audubon football and cross country teams as Distinguished in Academic Achievement. Cross country runners posted a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.51 with football players earning a 3.30. The football cheerleaders also earned Excellence in Academic Achievement with a 3.06 GPA. The Wheelers’ volleyball and girls cross country teams were also recognized by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU). Both were honored with Distinguished Academic Achievement with a cumulative GPA of 3.709 from the volleyball squad and an impressive 3.945 GPA from the cross country runners. Superintendent, Brett Gibbs, congratulated these teams on their success and says these accomplishments are a prime example of “the Wheeler way.”
