Glidden Acquires Property Needed For New Lagoon Through Land Purchase And Exchange

The City of Glidden acquired the land needed for their new lagoon project this (Wednesday) morning through a property purchase and land exchange. Procuring the land was a two-step process for city officials. According to City Clerk, Suzy Danner, the first stage was to buy land to be used later in the transaction.

The city paid $317,500 to Kay Bosman for the approximately 20 acre property. Following that contract, city officials began arranging a deal with another property owner, Richard Collison, to trade the newly purchased land for the area where the lagoon will be placed.

She adds all parties involved seemed pleased with how the deal turned out. Even though the paperwork is finished, Glidden will not take full control of the property for nearly a year.

The estimated cost for the project is $3.5 million. The lagoon is expected to be operational by midyear of 2020.
