It may seem a bit early to be working on a basketball tournament in February, but Hoop It Up 2018 will be here before we know it. The Carroll Chamber of Commerce has opened registration for the tournament that will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24 and 25. A link for registering a team can be found below, but the teams traveling from across the region are not the only thing needed for this popular annual event. The Chamber is seeking volunteers in two specific areas, concessions and site coordination. Site coordinators are individuals or couples who are responsible for overseeing activities in the gymnasiums the days of the tournament. They ensure games start and end on time, that referees and teams are on site, they hand out team shirts and awards and help pick up at the end of the day. Concession volunteers are groups, like Lions Club, 4-H or Kiwanis, that run a stand at one of the tournament locations for the weekend as a fundraiser for their group.
