The Carroll men who are organizing a new event could not have picked a better time of year to bring people together to learn more about faith. Jeremy Schechinger says he was looking for ways to delve deeper into his faith and to share that experience with others. He was contacted by Father Brian Feller about a concept that has become popular throughout the Sioux City Diocese, and in many areas across the state, just under different names.

Schechinger took the lead and with Fr. Feller and Ted Garringer has created the Theology on Tap series that will begin next Thursday, Nov. 30. Garringer, who is the preschool through eighth grade principal at Kuemper, says this is a way to fill an educational gap.

Theology On Tap is an interdenominational event, and everyone is welcome to come and share with the group. In this first session, Schechinger and Fr. Feller will be presenting, and Fr. Feller says they will be discussing the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Both Schechinger and Fr. Feller will be sharing experiences as examples. Fr. Feller says experience is the best teacher, but she often comes late and there is a lot we can learn from others. There will be an opportunity for questions and answers after the presentations on Thursday night, and organizers want people to be able ask anything. They will be taking questions in advance, which can be submitted anonymously through a link included below. They will then be discussed Thursday evening. The men say they have started with four planned sessions and will see how those go, with the hopes of increasing the number in the future. Theology on Tap will get underway with a social hour at 6:30 p.m. at B&S’s 529 on North Main. The 20- to 30-minute presentation will start at 7 p.m.
