A Carroll woman created a chain reaction accident Monday afternoon that resulted in damages to her own vehicle as well as two others. At approximately 4:58 p.m., an officer with the Carroll Police Department responded to the scene in the 500 block of 7th Street. The officer spoke with 19-year-old Derri Shay Ridgley, who told him her boot got caught on the accelerator of her 2012 Chrysler 200. When she reached down to free her boot, she struck the rear of a 2002 Ford Explorer that was legally parked on the street. The impact of hitting the Explorer sent it onto private property, where it collided with a 2008 Hyundai Sonata, that was also legally parked. Ridgley did not suffer any injuries, but there was an estimated $10,000 in damage to her car, $8,000 in damage to the Ford Explorer and $5,000 in damage to the Hyundai. Ridgley was cited for failure to maintain control.
