A Coon Rapids woman faces possible jail time for falsely using a check at a local convenience store. An investigation into the incident by the Carroll Police Department discovered 31-year-old Melina Brooke Callahan-Lopez purchased several items from the Casey’s General Store at 613 U.S. Highway 30 and wrote a check from an account she did not own to pay for the items. She was arrested by the Carroll Police Department and charged with forgery, a class D felony. Felony forgery carries a punishment of up to five years imprisonment and a maximum fine of $7,500 dollars.
