Kuemper Students To Showcase “You Can’t Take It With You” Three Nights This Week

A 1936 Broadway play will be revived by a talented team of 16 cast members along with their backstage crew and lighting department beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. The Kuemper High School drama department will be bringing the comedic twists and turns of the play, “You Can’t Take It With You,” to life for the entertainment of all ages. The traditional story of a man from the wealthy side of the tracks falling in love and getting engaged to one of the ordinary folk leads to the introduction of the very eccentric family members who have their own ideas about the impending marriage. Total madness ensues. Susan Glass, with the help of student director, Sami Hays, is directing the production that has been performed by Kuemper alumni, but it was last done in 1998, before the present cast members were even born. Performances will be held at the Carroll Rec Center auditorium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with all shows at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at the high school main office or at the door at a cost of $6 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. We will bring you more about the play from some of the performers in an upcoming broadcast.
