Carroll Supervisors Approve Real Estate Transfer After Closed Session

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors entered into a closed session with Carroll County Attorney, John Werden, and Carroll County Conservation Director, Jason Christensen, during their regular meeting Monday morning. The only detail provided prior to entering the closed session was that it was being held under the Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(c), which states it is for the purpose of discussing “strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation.” After returning to an open meeting, the supervisors took action on the discussion. They authorized the chair, Gene Meiners, to sign and record an affidavit of possession and then a real estate transfer.

Meiners and Marty Danzer explain which parcel was transferred.

There is 40 acres at the site, but this transaction was for only a 14-acre segment of the property to the west of Willey.
