An Exira man was hospitalized after a single-vehicle accident on Wednesday evening. At approximately 6 p.m., the Audubon County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Littlefield Drive, about one mile east of Exira. An investigation revealed that 66-year-old Paul Dennis Knudsen was traveling eastbound on Littlefield Drive when he left the roadway. He was able to come back onto the road, but was not able to regain control of the 1998 Chevrolet he was driving and entered the north ditch. The car rolled multiple times, coming to rest on the rooftop. Knudsen was transported to the Audubon County Memorial Hospital by Exira Rescue for treatment of his injuries. There was an estimated $15,000 in damage to the vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
