Fort Dodge Man Shot Twice During Break-In At Sac City Apartment Wednesday Afternoon

A Fort Dodge man is listed in stable condition at a Sioux City hospital after being shot twice while breaking into a Sac City apartment Wednesday afternoon. At approximately 4 a.m., the Sac City Police Department responded to a report of shots fired at 211 South 5th St. in Sac City. According to authorities, Bendji Joseph of Fort Dodge, forcibly entered the residence with the intent to harm the occupants. One of those residents, Miguel Alcantara, was in the apartment at the time of the break-in. Fearing for his life, he shot Joseph twice with a 9mm pistol. Joseph was transported to Loring Hospital in Sac City and later airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City. At this time, Joseph is charged with first-degree burglary, a class B felony, and third-degree burglary, a class D felony. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The  Lake View Police Department, Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Sac County Emergency Medical Services and Sac County Attorney’s Office assisted at the scene.
