Date Set And Plans Underway For Fifth Annual Hometown Heroes Memorial Ride

It may seem a bit early to be planning an event for next spring, but the Hometown Heroes Memorial Ride volunteer organizers are already announcing that there will be some twists in their fifth annual event. Taking place on Father’s Day weekend each year, the ride will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018, beginning in Rockwell City. The goal of the ride is to raise money, awareness and show support for the community’s fallen heroes and their families. The 2017 ride added the name of Urbandale Police Officer and Rockwell City native, Justin Martin, who was killed in an ambush-style attack in November of 2016. The first year of the ride was to honor Jamie Buenting, a Rockwell City Police Officer killed in the line of duty in September of 2013. The second year, Rockwell City Firefighter, Nick Hildreth, died right before the run. Everyone is encouraged to like and follow the group’s Facebook page, and provide their opinion on the inclusion of a party bus for the 2018 ride. Updates and additional information on the plans for the upcoming memorial run will be showcased on that site, a link to which can be found here.
