The deadline for a fast-paced and totally fun way to give back to the local community is approaching as the Manning Rotary makes plans for the Pack the Pantry event on Tuesday Oct. 24. At 3:30 that afternoon, three-member teams will be given five minutes to shop West Street Market in Manning with the goal of filling their cart with items that will get as close as possible to a $250 total receipt without going over. Those items will then be purchased by the team and donated to the Manning Food Pantry. Modeled after the Carroll Lions Club Grocery Grab last June, the Manning Rotary is also offering winners a traveling trophy and bragging rights for winning the race. Teams need to be registered by Friday, Oct. 6. Forms are available from Kara Stadtlander or Katie Wall through the contact points listed below. Everyone is invited to attend the event and cheer on their favorite teams, or heckle the others, on Oct. 24.
