The low unemployment rates in the region have led the Carroll Area Development Corporation (CADC) to take action in helping area businesses who wish to expand and add staff. “The CADC’s mission is to support Carroll County’s existing industry base and help those industries grow,” says Executive Director, Shannon Landauer. “Obviously, a key component to any organization’s growth is the availability of qualified individuals to fill necessary positions.” She adds, from their perspective, the way to fill positions in the current unemployment environment, is to increase the employee base, not compete for the employees that already exist. To meet this goal, the CADC has hired Janet Ady of Ady Advantage. She is a nationally recognized site selection and talent recruitment specialist and is being brought in to help develop a long-term talent recruitment strategy to meet the needs of employers and to help the Carroll area grow. This past Tuesday, the talent strategy recruitment committee met with Ady and discussed her strategies, case studies and examples as well as Carroll’s labor pool, shortcomings and different tactics used to date in hiring and growing local businesses. In mid-October, she will present a final talent recruitment strategy to be used by the county as a whole.
