Tiger Volleyball Team Raises More Than $3,000 During Go Gold Event Tuesday

The Carroll Tiger volleyball team’s Go Gold event Tuesday night has raised more than $3,000 to support families coping with childhood cancer. Volleyball players and fans wore golden ribbons and dressed in gold, the national pediatric cancer awareness color. For weeks before the game, the team sold shirts emblazoned with a yellow ribbon styled after the logo of the well-known superhero, Superman. Head volleyball coach, Kelli Schulz, also offered ribbons to their opponents, Perry, so they too could participate in the event. T-shirts sales raised $2,926, and when combined with the $337 raised from donations the night of the game, raised the total to $3,263. “I am so proud of our Carroll Tiger Volleyball team and the generosity of our area communities,” says Schulz. The funds will be split between CureSearch, a non-profit organization focused on pediatric cancer research and the Rainbow House in Omaha, which provides a place for patients and families to stay while traveling for treatment.
