The 2017 Iowa Honey Queen, Carly Raye Vannoy, will be visiting two area libraries later this week to give a presentation on all-things related to honey. Vannoy is visiting both the Gowrie and Glidden libraries on Friday, Sept. 29. She says her presentations focus on all aspects of honey production, but includes some interesting details.
The presentation in Gowrie will begin at 4 p.m. Once done there, Vannoy will travel to Glidden for a seminar at 6:30 p.m. She says a lot of people know that bees are pollinators, but many do not know the impact they have on production.
Vannoy is attempting to visit each of Iowa’s 99 counties during her one-year term as the Iowa Honey Producers Association Honey Queen. Her reign began in November of 2016.
She is more the 75 percent of the way to her goal and has until November to reach all 99. Her presentations on Friday are intended for all ages and free to attend. She continues her tour across Iowa on Saturday with a presentation at the Ericson Public Library in Boone.
