Tonight is homecoming for the Kuemper Catholic School System, and one woman is attending a very special celebration with her 70th class reunion this weekend. That is not the only reason for Patricia (Williams) Rupiper to be one of the many Kuemper alumni to be recognized, she is also responsible for making Kuemper a family tradition. Patricia and her husband, Leroy, had 10 children who all attended and graduated from Kuemper High School. Those 10 children gave the Rupipers 16 grandchildren, and all of those attended Kuemper, with 15 having graduated already and the 16th set to graduate in the spring of 2018. And now, from those 16 grandchildren, there are 12 great-grandchildren currently attending Kuemper. Originally called the St. Angela Academy, the school became co-ed and was renamed Kuemper in 1954. Patricia says, “I felt that I received a wonderful education at the academy, and my wish for all my children was to also receive a great Catholic education. Kuemper has fulfilled that for all of them.” Her oldest daughter, Jeannine Muhlbauer says, “We are so very proud and blessed to have such an outstanding school.” And in line with the homecoming celebration, she adds, “Go Knights!”
