A local high schooler is attempting to fill an entire semi-trailer with relief supplies to send to victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas. Megan Rotert, a junior at Kuemper, says she came up with the idea after checking in with some family members who were nearby where the storm hit.
An estimated 100,000 homes or more were affected by the storm. Thousands of people’s personal items, such as clothing, were lost or destroyed. Rotert says people are still struggling to get access to other essential items.
With the help of Crouse Transportation, Rotert is setting up in the CityCentre Plaza in Carroll all this week to accept donations. On Wednesday, the truck will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. She hopes they will be able to fill the trailer with supplies and have it on the way to Texas as soon as possible.
