CCSD Pleasantly Surprised By Strong Financial Report In FY 2017

In a time when most schools across the state are growing concerned about finances, the Carroll Community School District (CCSD) is pleased to report they ended the fiscal year with nearly $1.6 million more in their General Fund than last year. Business Manager, Gary Bengtson, did not expect such significant growth and says other funds performed well, too.

Superintendent, Rob Cordes, says a good portion of the increase comes from reducing significant costs in employee salaries.

In addition, FY17 revenues totaled about $24.7 million, slighter more than four percent higher than expected. Expenses equaled $23 million, a little over two percent lower than what was budgeted. Cordes says good fortune in factors such as the weather played a role.

Revenues exceeded expenditures in terms of budget percentage for all the major funding silos for CCSD except for Debt Service. The board of education is pleased with the financial report at a time where projected growth in funding from the state is estimated at zero percent.
