Kuemper Hosts Pink-Out Game Thursday For Breast Cancer Awareness

Students, fans and staff are all gearing up in pink to support victims of breast cancer this week for the Kuemper Pink-Out volleyball match on Thursday. The event is being put on by members of the Kuemper Student Council. Kalee Peter, a senior and service leader, and Courtney Schenkelberg, a junior and class representative, say they have been hosting pink-outs for years and it has a huge impact on everyone involved.

Both girls play on the volleyball team, and one of the senior teammates, Macy Ludwig, lost her mother to breast cancer in middle school. Breast cancer has effected everybody in some way, and Peter and Schenkelberg say their team has gotten very close after years of playing together which makes this event more than just a fundraiser.

There will be more going on than an all-pink display. Schenkelberg says a number of options will be available for people who want to donate.

All money raised goes to the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Infusion Center which manages treatment of patients receiving chemotherapy. Last year’s Pink-Out event raised nearly $2,000 to the Fill the Tank Fund and was used to provide financial support for those undergoing cancer treatment. The Pink-Out game begins Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7:15 p.m. in the Kuemper High School gym against St. Albert. The Kuemper High School Student Council expressed their thanks to those donating to help make the Pink-Out a reality.
