The Jefferson Police Department is investigating a hit and run accident that was reported at approximately 12:35 p.m. Tuesday. An officer is working to gather video from banks in the area near the accident, which occurred in the 100 block of West State Street. A 2014 Chrysler 200, owned by Kashia Cooklin of Jefferson, was backed into by an unknown truck, causing $1,500 in damages to the front end.
