DNR Investigates Fish Kill In Plymouth County

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is investigating a fish kill in north central Plymouth County. The DNR was notified Thursday morning of ammonia entering a stream near the Floyd River, a tributary of the Missouri River, from the Wells Blue Bunny’s north plant. Several hundred dead minnows and chubs were found in the stream, but no effects have been seen in the Floyd River. The DNR will continue to monitor the situation and performed a fish kill count Friday. Resident are advised to avoid the stream for at least 24 hours.
