Two Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident In Carroll Tuesday Evening

Two people were treated for injuries received in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening in Carroll. At approximately 6:23 p.m., the Carroll Police Department responded to the intersection of Highway 71 and Ely Drive. A 2004 Volkswagen, driven by 20-year-old Brittany Klocke of Carroll, was southbound on Highway 71, but stopped and waiting for northbound traffic to pass to negotiate a left-hand turn onto Ely Drive. A 2016 Nissan Rogue, driven by 45-year-old Elizabeth Harms of Templeton, was also southbound on 71, but failed to stop in time and rear-ended the Klocke vehicle. There were no injuries in the Harms vehicle, but a three-year-old passenger in the Volkswagen and Klocke were transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of injuries. The three year old was later transferred to a Des Moines hospital. A second passenger in the Klocke vehicle was uninjured. There was an estimated $10,000 in damages to the Klocke vehicle and $9,000 to the Harms vehicle. Harms was cited for failure to maintain control. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
