MAC’s Corner Cafe Closing Doors Today, But Expect Some Favorites To Stick Around

Effective today, Monday, Aug. 28, Todd and Chico Kanne will be closing the doors of MAC’s Corner Café after 12 years of serving the Carroll community. “To the long-time patrons of MAC’s, we are forever grateful for your patronage over the years,” says Todd. And operating principal, Sue Kanne adds, “To the team members, especially the teens who did such a wonderful job serving our customers, we hope your experience is something you will always treasure.” This decision, the Kanne’s say, did not come lightly, but with a change in consumer behaviors and buying habits, they have decided it was time for the change. Country Stores of Iowa has purchased the property and will be renovating it into a contemporary convenience store. CEO, Steve Kimmes, says the cutting-edge convenience experience they will provide incorporates the best of MAC’s on this prime piece of real estate on the Highway 30 corridor through Carroll. The new store is expected to be unveiled in 2018 and will feature a drive-thru, fresh food options, specialty drinks that customers have come to love at MAC’s, a coffee shop-style gathering space along with tech savvy conveniences like charging stations, high speed wireless internet access and touch screen food ordering. “Many plans are still in the works,” Kimmes says, “and we are not limiting ourselves to the traditional c-store amenities.” During the renovation, the Country Store will remain in operation, and depending on construction plans, some MAC’s amenities will continue to be offered. Market on 30 will also continue to operate as usual. Country Stores of Iowa operates 12 convenience stores across western Iowa and are updating their facilities to improve the overall convenience store experience. Carroll Broadcasting has reached out Mr. Kimmes for further comment and will bring you more information as it becomes available.
