Glidden Man Sentenced To Up To Five Years For Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury

A Glidden man has been sentenced to up to five years in prison after pleading guilty last week to serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving, a class D felony. On Thursday, Aug. 24, Ronald Lee Meister appeared in the Iowa District Court for Carroll County to be sentenced on the charge. His term is not to exceed five years and Meister has been given credit for time served. He is also ordered to pay fines and surcharges of slightly over $1,000, restitution and court costs. The reckless driving charge stems from an incident east of Lidderdale on Aug. 5, 2016, in which Meister struck the rear of a tractor that was being towed by a second tractor. The impact caused the tractors to separate and 43-year-old Robert Joe Mohr, Jr. of Glidden was thrown from the tractor and pinned under the Meister pickup.
