Window Vandals Strike In Same Place Twice In Last Eight Months

Last Thursday and Friday, Aug. 10 and Aug. 11, the Carroll Police department was notified of two more instances of vandalism to windows, and one of the victims already suffered similar damages Jan. 19 of this year. Gerald Frank Schreck reported that another window of his Ford F150 was shot out sometime in the overnight hours last Thursday while parked at his residence. Schreck had filed nearly an identical report to this one in January. The second incident was reported by Brianna Sue Brittain of Glidden on Thursday, who told an officer that the windshield of her 2000 Dodge Stratus was smashed by an unknown object while it was parked in the 1600 block of Oakwood Drive in Carroll. Cases of this type of vandalism escalated in the latter half of 2016, when police began receiving reports of window damage to vehicles, homes and businesses. Often times the glass was shot out with a bb gun. The first reports started coming in to the department around July 23, 2016 and the crimes appear to have peaked in mid-January of 2017, when there were 10 reports received in a two-day period. The Carroll Police Department continues to investigate these crimes and encourages anyone with information to contact them at 792-3536.
