Candidate filings for area school board elections closed Aug. 3, and a number of individuals have announced their intentions to run. The Carroll Community School District has two terms expiring in 2017, and both current seat holders, Jen Munson and Duane Horsley, are the only candidates running for each seat. Two positions are available on the Ar-We-Va Community School District Board of Education. Danielle Schrad, who sits on the board at this time, is the only candidate for one of those seats. Current Board President, Sara Skinner, has not filed for reelection. If a write-in candidate is not elected, the board will need to appoint a fifth board member. In the East Sac County Community School District, two seats are available, and Jay Stoltenberg, of Wall Lake, and Brent Wilhelm, of Sac City, have indicated their intention to pursue those seats. Five candidates have filed for the Glidden-Ralston school board election. Renee Schon, Jeremy David, Bob Brown, Kathy Walker-Brown and Andy Thielen will be vying for the available seats.
