Carroll City Manager Says Excitement Of Passing Carroll Public Library Bond Referendum Transitions Into More Hard Work

Carroll City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says there was really just one word that summed up the response last night (Tuesday) from the unofficial results that produced a 62 percent favorable outcome on the $3.8 million bond referendum for the renovation of the Farner Government Building to house an expanded Carroll Public Library.

The outcome is very exciting, he says, but they are all going to have a very busy couple of years ahead of them now. The hard work is just beginning, Pogge-Weaver says.

He adds it will be 2019 before work can begin on the Farner Government Building for the expansion of that space into a new library. The bond referendum passed in the special election Tuesday night with a vote of 1792 in favor and 1,101 against. An outstanding 80 absentee ballots will be factored into the unofficial totals when the election is canvassed and made official Monday morning at the Carroll County Board of Supervisors meeting, held at 9 a.m. in the Carroll County Courthouse. Supervisors will also canvas the election for the at-large Carroll City Council seat, in which LaVern Dirkx won with 1440 votes to the 326 received by Ronald “Woody” Beyer and the 725 that came in for Matthew Hodges.
