Trial dates have now been set for all of the suspects in the May 12 death of 16-year-old Sabrina Ray of Perry. Authorities say the adopted teen, who weighed only 56 pounds at the time of her death, suffered from malnutrition, neglect and showed signs of severe physical abuse. Her adoptive parents, 41-year-old Marc Ray and 40-year-old Misty Ray will stand trial on Aug. 28, while her adoptive brother and grandmother, 21-year-old Justin Ray and 62-year-old Carla Bousman’s trials will be Sept. 18. The final court date set was for 20-year-old Josie Bousman, the adoptive cousin of Sabrina, who will go to court on Oct. 30. All five of these suspects have pled not guilty to all charges and are currently being held in the Dallas County jail. Marc and Misty Ray are facing 11 charges each including: one count of child endangerment resulting in death; three counts of first-degree kidnapping; four counts of child endangerment resulting in serious injury and three counts of neglect or abandonment of a dependent person. Carla Bousman and Josie Bousman are facing the same five charges of three counts of first-degree aiding and abetting kidnapping, one count of aiding and abetting child endangerment resulting in death and one count of obstructing prosecution or defense. And Justin Ray has been charged with one count of child endangerment resulting in serious injury, one count of child endangerment resulting in bodily injury and two counts of willful injury causing bodily injury. Authorities say that Justin Ray reportedly “drop-kicked” Sabrina Ray down the basement steps about two weeks before her death, leaving her unable to eat or drink and walk or talk normally.
