Farner-Bocken Driver Lucky To Escape Serious Injury In Four-Vehicle Accident Near Correctionville

A Farner-Bocken semi-tractor trailer driver was involved in a four-vehicle accident Monday morning on Highway 20 near Correctionville. At approximately 5:10 a.m., the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a semi-tractor trailer driver, 61-year-old Grayling Erich Klunker of Sioux City, about a reckless driver heading eastbound on Highway 20. Before law enforcement could arrive, only a few miles further on, the reported reckless driver, 21-year-old Octavio Felix Marcos of Sioux City, crossed the center line in his 2005 Dodge Neon and side-swiped a westbound 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 33-year-old Jonathan Leroy Edwards of Correctionville. The Marcos vehicle then spun around on Highway 20, and the westbound Farner-Bocken 2013 International semi-tractor trailer, driven by 53-year-old Dale Gerard Boes of Breda, collided head on with the Neon. The semi rolled, blocking both lanes of the highway. Klunker, who was traveling behind the Marcos vehicle in a 2016 Peterbilt, was forced to take evasive action and struck the rear of the Farner-Bocken trailer, coming to rest in the north ditch. Marcos left the scene on foot and was located several hours later hiding in a farm field. No serious injuries were reported, but all other drivers were checked by medical personnel for minor injuries. Marcos was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, reckless driving, interference with official acts, operating without a license and no vehicle insurance. There was an estimated $80,000 in damage to each of the semis, $7,000 to the Edwards Pontiac and $5,000 to the Marcos vehicle.
