Carroll Farmer Chooses 4-H As Recipient of $2,500 Donation From America’s Farmers Grow Communities Program

A local farmer has been selected by the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program to direct a $2,500 donation from the Monsanto Fund to be used to support Carroll County 4-H. Andrea Irlbeck applied for the program last fall and is excited to have the funds going to such a great organization. “The Grow Communities program is truly an amazing opportunity for farmers to support an organization of their choice,” says Irlbeck. “It has an incredible impact, no matter which group is selected.” The funds are anticipated to be available for use later this summer and will be used to purchase educational materials and provide resources for the county’s 10 4-H clubs and their members. Since the program began in 2010, farmers have designated more than $26 million nationwide from Grow Communities to organizations ranging from food banks to youth agriculture programs. A Carroll County farmer has been selected each year of the program’s existence. More than $3 million from the Monsanto Fund will be donated across the country to support nonprofits this year. A link to the full list of 2017 recipients and ways to apply for the program can be found included below this story.
