The Iowa State Patrol has released the name of the woman killed in a head-on collision on Highway 71 south of Carroll on Tuesday afternoon as 57-year-old Linda Lee Smith of Coon Rapids. According to the official report, Smith was southbound on Highway 71 in a 1996 Toyota Camry, and near the intersection with 250th Street, when she crossed the center line. She collided with a northbound 2004 Toyota RAV4, driven by 26-year-old Corie Jean Walsh of Glidden. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene and Walsh was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Carroll Fire Department also assisted at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
