A Jamaica man is listed in critical condition after being struck by a passing motorist while trying to fuel a vehicle alongside 160th Road south of Jamaica and east of Yale in Guthrie County on Sunday night. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol report that 38-year-old Curtis Moorehead’s Jeep had run out of gas at approximately 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by an unidentified driver of a passing Dodge Journey. Moorehead was transported to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines by Guthrie County Emergency Medical Services. There were no other injuries reported to the other adult and three children who were passengers in the Moorehead vehicle. Authorities have also reported that while working the scene, there was another close call that resulted in the arrest of an as of yet unidentified drunk driver.
