Jefferson Matters: Main Street is celebrating National Small Business Week this week and is encouraging local shoppers to show their support to local business owners. The event began on Sunday, April 30 and ends Saturday, May 6. According to Jefferson Matters: Main Street, more than 50 percent of Americans work for or own a small business. These businesses are responsible for creating two out of every three new jobs each year. By shopping locally, more money flows into the local economy and creates more jobs, more income and economic growth. Jefferson Matters: Main Street offers their congratulations to all small business owners and encourages everybody to shop locally.
