Library Steering Committee Schedules Meetings. Public Encouraged To Attend

The architectural firm that has been working with the City of Carroll on developing plans and cost estimates for the Carroll Public Library expansion, OPN Architects, made a special request at the April 10 council meeting for the formation of a steering committee. In addition to one or two more individuals from the construction/development industries, nine people have been appointed to serve including: three city council members—Misty Boes, Jerry Fleshner and Clay Haley; Library Trustee, Tom Louis; Library Foundation member, Marilyn Setzler; City Engineer, Randy Krauel; City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver; and library staff members, Assistant Director, Judy Behm until May 16, then new Library Director, Rachel Van Erdewyk. The committee will work with OPN on the drafting and revising of various plans and will provide feedback for these prior to them being submitted to the city council for review. Two meetings have already been scheduled, one for Friday, May 5 and the other for Friday, May 12, both beginning at noon at the Carroll Fire Station training room. The May 5 meeting will include a review of the different versions of potential elevations from several different perspectives. The identified goal of this meeting is to provide more direction to OPN on the overall design and layouts. Then on May 12, the group will work to refine the selected options for presentation to the council. The public is encouraged to attend these meetings as well to get a better understanding of the proposed project that includes the renovation of the Commercial Savings Bank building on North Adams Street to house Carroll City offices.
