First Annual Irish Hooley In Coon Rapids Also Serves As Fundraiser For CR-B

St. Patrick’s Day is this week, and a folk band is bringing Irish melodies to Coon Rapids to celebrate. On Friday, March 17, Studio 728 will be performing during the First Annual Coon Rapids Irish Hooley. There is no charge to attend the event, but they will be accepting donations for the Coon Rapids-Bayard auditorium renovation. Paige Huntley, school employee and band violinist, says the cost to get everything updated is more than many might expect.

Nearly $25,000 has already been raised for the project. They still have over $50,000 left to raise, and this event is certainly worth a freewill donation. Studio 728 usually covers classic songs, but when they started to play Irish tunes, Huntley says the band really connected with the music.

The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Raccoon River Social Club on Main Street in Coon Rapids and ends around 10 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their own beverages and join in the Irish-themed fundraiser.
