Boil Order For Breda After Pump Control Failure

Citizens living in Breda are currently under a boil order as a result of technical errors in the city’s water pump controls. The order began Tuesday afternoon, and Mayor Mike Schwabe says the issue they had was easily corrected.

Even though the problem was repaired nearly immediately, the water pressure in the pipes dropped low enough that bacteria may have entered the system. Schwabe says the boil order is a precaution to prevent illness and should end relatively quickly.

He says the city will let citizens know when the boil order is over. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources recommends boiling all water before use. If unable to boil your water, the agency suggests using bottled water is always a safe option.
