FAA Presents Informational Seminar On UASs And Their Regulations To Carroll and Kuemper Students

Students from Carroll and Kuemper High Schools interested in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) saw a presentation Wednesday morning from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding the ever-changing rules and regulations regarding drones. Brett Hoben, principal inspector for the FAA at their Ankeny location, told the students drone use is expanding rapidly due to their versatility.

Global retailer, Amazon, delivered its first order by drone last month in the United Kingdom, and Hoben estimates that jobs, operations and research related to drones could grow into a $100 billion dollar industry in the future. He says there are many ways to get into the new field.

Presentations like this have become increasingly common for students at Carroll and Kuemper schools as the districts look to prepare students for their potential future careers.
