City Of Glidden Purchases New Lift Truck And Gets Creative With Its Predecessor

The City of Glidden purchased a new truck for their electric department and has plans to repurpose the equipment they are replacing for a completely different use. City Clerk, Suzy Danner, says the truck cost the city $106,999.

The city is the electrical provider in Glidden, and Danner says the new truck is needed to maintain equipment lines. The vehicle is used for other aspects of city work as well.

The previous lift-truck only has around 10,000 miles, but the 17-year-old lift equipment is becoming difficult to maintain. According to Danner, the city will save thousands by using the old truck for a whole new purpose.

The conversion is estimated to cost about $5,000. The converted truck will be used for snow removal, moving equipment and other city needs.
