Due to the Christmas holiday, the Carroll City Council will hold their next meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 27, in the second-floor council chambers at City Hall beginning at 5:15 p.m. City Manager, Michel Pogge-Weaver said the council will hold a public hearing on the proposed amendments to the urban renewal plan to allow for Dr. Steve Kraus’ business, DMBA Properties, to receive Tax Increment Financing (TIF) rebates for developing the lots at the corner of Fifth and Clark Streets. The council will also discuss the options presented by OPN on the library and city hall conceptual renovation plans.
The second part of the discussion will be to engage OPN on getting a better understanding of their numbers. Pogge-Weaver said identifying the preferred option will help them to hone in on any options for reducing costs and possibly moving into the design stage.
Both city hall and the Commercial Savings Bank building, for example, have had new boilers installed within the last five to six years and they can look at the cost savings of retaining that equipment versus replacement. They can also delve into specific components in the design phase.
The council is also expected to announce their intentions to make an appointment at a future meeting to fill the at-large seat that was vacated by Brandon Vonnahme on Dec. 16 and to preview their five-year Capital Improvement Plan. Again, the council meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 27, and is open to the public.
