DNR Offers Manure Applicator Training On Jan. 5 Through ISU Extension Offices

New and existing commercial manure applicators can meet their certification training requirements on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at 75 different locations in Iowa. “It’s important to get to class and submit the paperwork before applying manure,” said Jeff Prier, DNR environmental specialist. “We’ve had a few people this year who needed reminding that just because you’ve attended class, you’re not certified until everything has reached our Des Moines office.” Iowa State University (ISU) Extension will offer the training from 9 a.m. to noon at county extension offices and affiliated locations. Check-ins begin at 8:30 a.m., and applicators must pre-register for the workshops by Dec. 28 to ensure adequate seating at the seminars. Registration for the classes can be found at your county’s ISU Extension website. In the case an applicator cannot make it to the session, the DNR offers a convenient online training and fee option. The link to that option can be found included with this story below. Certificates for all commercial applicators expire on March 1, 2017, and this method is a good opportunity to get ahead on registration and avoid late fees.
