Carroll Water Survey Helps Identify Leaks In City’s Water System

Some residents in Carroll had no water service for a short time Monday morning for city crews to replace a leaking valve in the system. Director of Public Works for Carroll, Randy Kraul, says these leaks occur from time to time and are discovered using an outside agency.

The company, Westrum Leak Detection from Stratford, performs an audit on the city’s water systems every year to find leaks like this before they become a major problem. They use sophisticated equipment to find these leaks without digging below the surface, according to Kraul.

These types of repairs are a minor inconvenience for homeowners and are usually completed in less than a day. Kraul says these types of repairs keeps the system from having more frequent failures.

There are several more leaks that are yet to be repaired, but those replacements will be reviewed by the Public Works Department and placed on the schedule.
