Law Enforcement From Across Iowa Honor Croghan At Funeral

Law enforcement, community members, friends and family members turned out in multitudes to celebrate the life and career of Carroll County Deputy, William “Bill” Croghan, during his funeral service on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Templeton. Croghan began his career in law enforcement in 1973 as a patrol officer with the Carroll Police Department and served the agency for 25 years. After his retirement from the department with the rank of Captain, he joined the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in 1997 and continued his service there until losing his battle with cancer on Oct. 31. Deputies from the Carroll County, Plymouth County, Shelby County, Greene County and Audubon County Sheriffs’ Offices were in attendance as well as members of the Iowa State Patrol, Manning, Emmetsburg and Lake View Police Departments. The Dedham American Legion served as honor guard at his funeral. Communications Supervisor and 911 Coordinator at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Hoffman, makes Deputy Croghan’s last call.
