Incumbent Iowa Senator, Mark Segebart, Says He Has More Work To Do Yet

Republican Mark Segebart is currently holding the sixth district Iowa Senate seat, and he took some time to visit with Carroll Broadcasting about his views on some of the major issues we are currently facing, as well as others he sees that will demand attention in the next term. Recently, the Iowa Water and Land Legacy Coalition announced they are gathering more support for a 3/8th cent addition to the state sales tax to be used for water quality initiatives. Segebart said there are good aspects about that proposal.

He said there were bad points about this plan as well.

Segebart’s opponent, Libertarian candidate, Nick Serianni, says he believes that some of the expense should be shouldered by the parties responsible for increasing nitrates in the waterways. Segebart disagrees with that stance.

When asked about the biggest issues our state is facing, Segebart said to solve the major problems, we need to get back to basics.

He went on to say the government cannot be the “ma and pa” for everyone out there. We need more virtue by our citizens than we currently have and if we don’t get that changed, we are never going to be able to satisfy all the needs and wants that are out there. Segebart added he is asking for support as the  constituents have four years invested in him already and he believes he has come a long way in that time. He believes he is not only well-qualified for the Iowa Senate seat, but there are a few things he would like to see done yet before he leaves office. More audio from Segebart’s interview can be found below. We will bring you more from other area and local candidates in upcoming broadcasts.
