The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man killed in a head-on car accident Tuesday night. 28-year-old Stephen Graber of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Lake City, was a passenger in a Nissan Pathfinder heading westbound against the flow of traffic on Northeast University Avenue when it collided with a Nissan Altima travelling east. The Pathfinder driver, 23-year-old Dylan Winker, of Waukee, was transported to the hospital and remains under care. The two Altima passengers, 70-year-old Cheryll Polley and driver, 72-year-old Brownnie Polley, also remain in medical care after the accident. Polk County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, Brandon Bracelin, says charges are pending, and it is too early in the investigation to say with any certainty what charges Winker may face. Investigators are determining if alcohol played a role in the incident.
