The nominations are in and U.S. Cellular has selected their top 50 nominees from across the country for their Most Valuable Coach program. Included in that elite group is South Central Calhoun’s head football coach, Bryan Case. Those submitting nominations said Case was instrumental in the creation of a joint community after a school merger, brining everyone together as a new Titan Nation and that he deserves this honor, not only because of the many years he has devoted to the district, but because of the compassion and leadership shown to all of the young men he has helped grow over those years.
There are eight Iowa coaches included in the top 50 who will be moving into the first round of public voting that is taking place now through noon on Monday, Oct. 17 at TheMostValuableCoach.com. From the first round voting, 15 coaches will receive $1,000 from U.S. Cellular for their school to use however it chooses and will advance to the final round of voting from Thursday, Oct. 20 through Friday, Nov. 18. Two winners will be announced on Monday, Nov. 21, and they will receive a trip to Orlando, Fla. to be recognized live on the Citrus Bowl’s field during the nationally-televised Under Armour High School All-America Game on ESPN. Case says a trip to Florida does not sound bad at all.
