For the fifth time in six years, Stewart Memorial Community Hospital (SMCH) has been included in the Des Moines Register’s Top Work Places list. “Being a top workplace for us is directly related to our employees loving what they do, where they work and who they work with,” said SMCH Chief People Officer, Holly Espenhover. “Being nominated five times over the past six years has a significant impact on us as an organization,” she added. The list, which is based solely on employee feedback, is a collaboration between the Des Moines Register and WorkplaceDynamics, who reviews input from more than two million employees at 6,000 organizations across the country. Companies are either contacted by WorkplaceDynamics or are nominated by an employee. SMCH achieved a 79 percent response rate of employees who participated in the survey, an increase of four percent from 2015. SMCH CEO, Cindy Carstens said, “Our organization’s number one priority from our strategic plan is to recruit and retain high-performing providers and staff. In hiring the very best people and providing a great place for them to work allows our employees to provide an exceptional experience to the people we serve.”
