Nearly 150 OA-BCIG Students Protest Board Vote

Nearly 150 students at the Odebolt Arthur-Battle Creek Ida Grove (OA-BCIG) high school staged a walkout yesterday (Wednesday) in response to a failed vote on Tuesday night that could possibly split the schools. The Battle Creek-Ida Grove School District voted to move from whole-grade sharing to a merger, but the Odebolt-Arthur district did not agree with the proposal, turning it down and creating a failed vote. Students said they don’t want to be separated from friends they have made over the years and do not want to face the prospect of finishing out high school without their peers. The school’s Superintendent, Terry Kenealy says the best thing the administration can do now is take a step back and start talking about what to do next.
