In a special news conference this morning (Wednesday), St. Anthony Regional Hospital announced plans for a $1.8 million dollar renovation of the former Crawford County Clinic in Denison. The building, which is valued at $351,000, was donated to St. Anthony this past June by owners, Drs. David Marc Tan Creti and Rose Mary Mason. St. Anthony President and CEO, Ed Smith, said when the property was donated, they immediately saw the advantages and possibilities that exist in Denison.
Tan Creti and Mason have, according to Smith, initiated that move to facilitate their future plans.
Remodeling of the clinic will get underway immediately.
By breaking the project into two phases, Drs. Tan Creti and Mason’s practice will be uninterrupted. The work will begin with the primary care remodel on the west end of the building, and once completed the Crawford Clinic will move into that space while the current clinic is remodeled for specialty care. Smith said they anticipate phase one completion by January and phase two by the end of May of 2017. Bidding for the remodel has been completed and Smith said several local contractors will be performing the work.
Horty Elving, healthcare architects from Minneapolis, Minn., have drafted designs and Graham Construction of Des Moines will be managing the project. Active Performance Physical Therapy and Carroll Area Nursing, who are also located in the building at 1820 4th Ave. South along Highway 30 will remain as tenants. In addition to recruiting for providers to work in the primary care portion of the new clinic, Smith said St. Anthony is currently working to recruit the six members of the Crawford County Clinic staff to remain on after the doctors retire. The specialty clinic will be offering services that are not currently available in the Denison community and will be performed by the specialty physician’s in the St. Anthony network.
